This weekend was very crazy busy.
We had parents weekend and Deanna & Kevin's wedding shower.
Friday: The Preparation Begins
I went grocery shopping and started the preparations for the shower.
I baked two different kinds of mini cupcakes.
One was Deanna's favorite, blueberry cupcake with a maple brown butter frosting.
The other was my favorite chocolate cake with a caramel buttercream frosting (but i only had unsalted butter so I'll have to try it with salted butter one day).
I made the cakes on Friday and the frostings on saturday.
Unfortunately, I accidentally burned the caramel the first time because there was a spider in our house.
So, I had to redo it later that night but they turned out so delicious :)
My friends, Amelia and Kelsey (also bridesmaids), came over to help with the preparations.
Together, we put together a DIY pennant banner with the couples' names on them.
It took us a long time (not because it should have but because we were taking our time and enjoying our Friday night together just hanging out), but eventually I finished hot glueing it on saturday and I was very proud of us :) they are even going to keep it for potential future use!
Saturday: Parents Weekend
In the morning we had a meeting with all the parents from around the country who came to spend the weekend with their parents.
Many different students from our ministry shared about different aspects of our group from year.
It was encouraging to meet different parents and help serve them lunch.
Deanna and I then went to Cracker Barrel and had a fun girls brunch together.
Later that evening, we met up with my family (sans my sister :( - 18 days til I get to see her!!!)
and had dinner at Agua Linda.
As Hannah, Halie and I were headed back to my house, we decided to go crash teen prom.
So we drove out to the church building and danced for about an hour and a half.
They had decorated the inside of our church building with neon and black lights.
They even had a live twitter feed going for people to request songs and such.
It was a blast!
Sunday: Shower time!
We had a campus led worship service Sunday morning for parents weekend and it was so encouraging.
We had a campus choir and many students sharing about the Cross or the mission.
In the afternoon, the bridesmaids and I hosted a Jack & Jill Tailgate Shower for Deanna and Kevin at the Rorabaughs house.
We had cornhole, ladder ball, sliders, pigs in a blanket, and of course, mini cupcakes.
It was a blast being able to spend time with so many of my close friends and to celebrate the upcoming wedding! (pictures to come in a couple days)
